We’re Planning for SHOWTIME!!!
Dear Parents, Students, and Families of Prima Dance Academy.
We are pleased to announce that we have booked our year end production for Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Oshawa Little Theatre. We are very excited to have the wonderful opportunity to perform in this theatre, as it is a very in demand theatre and hard to get a performance date at this time of year. It is a very fantastic space for your children to perform and show you all of their hard work!! And…… NO TICKET LIMITS!!!
• Our ballet and creative movement students will be performing in a one act ballet of “A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream”
• Our Musical Theatre & Jazz/Tap students will be performing in our production of “Little Red Riding Hood…a howlingly hilarious musical”
Casting will be posted on the school’s “news board” in up-coming weeks… so keep an eye out!!!!
Please note: due to the change in show date, our last day of classes will be on Saturday, June 9th, 2012. Therefore, we will run a full week of classes after the show.
There will be two Show Times. ALL Students (excluding creative movement students) are all expected to perform in both shows as they are productions and they have been cast very carefully with NO understudies. The first show will be at 2:30pm and the second to follow at 5:30pm.
****CREATIVE MOVEMENT STUDENTS ONLY (ages 2-4)****
Saturday Creative Movement Students are part of the cast in the 2:30pm show only.
Wednesday Creative Movement Students are part of the cast in the 5:30pm show only.
Dress Rehearsal Schedule: Sunday May 27th @ the Old Brooklin Community Centre
“A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream” 1:00-4:00pm
“Little Red Riding Hood” 4:30-6:30pm
NOTE: a more detailed schedule with specific class times will be distributed and posted closer to the date. This will be a closed rehearsal. Parents will not be permitted to watch.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR FUN…..
All PDA students who will be involved with the production of Little Red Riding Hood; that is, ALL musical theater students, and ALL jazz/tap students, will perform at the Brooklin Spring Fair, Friday, June 1st at 5pm. Please have performers arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the performance dressed in their costumes as there is no place to change. If there are any conflicts please let us know immediately as casting will be set with NO UNDERSTUDIES!!
On Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 at 10am ALL PDA students are invited to take part in the Brooklin Spring Fair Parade!! We will be travelling by float this year, and hope to have as many students as possible join us!! All students should be dressed in their performance costume as we will have a themed float. The parade begins at 10am, so we ask for families to drop their children at the PDA FLOAT at Carnwith Dr & Baldwin St by 9:30am to allow time to organize ourselves and be ready for the parade to begin at 10am. Once the float leaves, we will not be able to stop for late arrivals. Parents can pick up their children on St Thomas St., at the bottom of the parade, after the parade has finished.
All regular classes will be cancelled on Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 for this event and to allow families to attend the fair as we will be in performance the following day.
