Studio Director & Owner, Professional Dance Educator

Angie’s passion for life is exhibited through her love of dance, which she shares with those she teaches. She first began to exhibit a love of the art at the age of two and over the last decades has being afforded the privilege to share her passion through teaching dance and ballet for kids.

Mrs. Stone is a graduate of the Teacher Training Program at Canada’s National Ballet School and is a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance. She is an Honours Graduate from the Department of Dance at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts and her experience has provided a strong foundation in many of forms of dance, with training in ballet, modern, jazz, musical theatre, tap and gymnastics. In addition, Ms. Kourkounakis has trained as a dancer at L’École Supérieure de Ballet Contemporain de Montréal, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and Canada’s National Ballet School. Angies’s life goal is to inspire tomorrow’s young artists to develop confidence, ability and passion for dance.

Catherine Kourkounakis (Mrs. K)

Specializing in Ballet and Character Dance

Prima Dance Academy is glad to introduce Catherine Kourkounakis to the parents and students of the school. Mrs. K brings a wealth of theatre and dance experience as well as over 30 years of teaching expertise in the Metro Toronto region. Catherine will join our staff and begin teaching the Pre-Primary levels and up. Her students over the past years consistently get excellent exam results. Her credits for production and choreography include a 2005 reproduction of Bournonville’s A Folk Tale, Award winning Festival choreography, co-producer/co-choreographer of Cinderella, Don Quixote, Swan Lake and yearly productions of The Nutcracker. In the fall of 2009, she debuted her chamber ballet, Life is a Dream, choreographing this intimate ballet and co-producing it with Belcanto Studios’ musical director, Gordon Brown and talented singers and dancers from the Toronto area. Catherine hopes to continue to work with Prima Dance Academy in the Brooklin and north Whitby/Durham area where she can establish a Youth Dance Ensemble that will perform yearly ballet and dance productions. Catherine is the Artistic Director of Prima Dance Ensemble and has begun creating a youth ensemble for Prima Dance Academy students to develop their dancing and performing talents. Her additional areas of expertise include Honours Associate teaching qualifications in National dance earned at the National Ballet School of Canada. Catherine has also worked with two other dance schools to create and develop the dance curriculum for ages 3- 6 years old and has mentored many junior teachers. In addition, she is currently on contract with the Royal Academy of Dance as approved mentor for student teachers in the RAD’s Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies program.

THEATRE ARTS DIVISION

Rosalind McArthur (Ms. McArthur)
Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Arts
Professional Theatre Arts Educator
Specializing in Vocal Training and Stage Craft

New Zealand-born mezzo-soprano Rosalind McArthur has performed with companies in New Zealand, Australia, Great Britain and North America, and has performed classic opera roles such as Bizet’s Carmen and Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro as well as baroque opera and numerous roles in contemporary music theatre. Some of her favourite past roles are Prince Orlofsky in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, the Fairy Queen in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe, the Duchess in The Gondoliers, and Katisha in THE MIKADO. She is a featured soloist on the Naxos recording Purcell: English Theatre Music. She also co-wrote and performed The Cabaret of the Gilded Cage and Uncaged, two opera-cabarets about the lives of women singers. She has directed and adapted Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel for Children’s Opera Workshop, of which she is founder and artistic director. Her early arts training included the study of multiple dance forms through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD). She holds performance diplomas in Singing and Speech/Drama from Trinity Guildhall (London, England) and a university degree in Theatre Directing. She has been a private vocal instructor for the past 16 years and finds fulfillment in helping her young students discover their own natural voice and directing their passion towards performance and theatre.
